About

Seedy Sunday in Brighton and Hove is the UK’s biggest and longest-running community seed swap event.
The event takes place on the first Sunday in February in Brighton and Hove.  At the heart of Seedy Sunday is the huge seed swap table where seeds are donated and swapped.

Next year it takes place on Sunday 2nd of February.

Seedy Sunday 2025

We’ll be back with a full event and next year: our Seed Swap is at thr Open Market, with different areas for Roots, Fruits, Leaves and Flowers. Bring your seeds to swap, or make a 50p donation. Our volunteers are happy to share their expertise and experiences of growing locally.

Whether you have seeds to swap or not, you have come to the right place!

Bring your seeds to the Seed Table. You can bring them in labelled envelopes, pick up envelopes from Infinity Foods https://www.infinityfoodsretail.coop/ or just bring your seeds – we’ll have plenty of envelopes.

If you haven’t got seeds to swap, we have a great selection for you. We have 100% organic, biodynamic ‘Demeter’ seeds from Seed Cooperative and from Moles Seeds.

We’ve received a generous allocation of Heritage Seed Library seeds. 500 packets of 37 varieties that are hard to get your hands on! These are open-pollinated, landrace, unique heirloom varieties for you to swap with.

We ask for a 50p donation for an envelope, we’ll have card machines for your donation and we’ll have volunteers shaking donation buckets!

We have forest school activities for children and their adults.

We have a full programme of guest speakers, a horticultural marketplace and pop-up cafes.

The whole family is welcome!

In more than 20 years of seed swapping at different halls across Brighton and Hove, we have had visits from BBC Radio 4 Gardeners’ Question Time and our visitors have enjoyed expert horticultural advice from many local and national experts. The heart of the event has always been our Seed Swap table.
