“the bees seem to have pollinated every flower this year with the added bonus that all the plot holders close by also reporting that they harvested more beans than ever before”Pat adds “ I can’t say what variety they are – I’ve been saving runner bean seeds on the Weald site for over 40 years and they have crossed and crossed with neighbours’ beans so they may be called a landrace. This means that this variety may be unique to this specific site. But the end result is a very prolific and tasty bean!” Thanks to the bees we not only have lots of extra seeds for Seedy Sunday but also lots of delicious honey. The bees in the two hives are cared for Kryz who has a honey shop in the Open Market in Brighton. Pat has been saving seeds for Seedy Sunday for many years and this year she is donating a bumper harvest of runner bean seeds from her plot on the Weald allotments in Hove.
